Toothache is a disorder that most people really don't want to experience. The symptoms that arise as a result of this problem can cause the sufferer to feel unbearable pain and even find it difficult to sleep.
Infection of the Brain Due to Disorders of the Teeth
There are many disorders that cause pain in the teeth, one of which is a tooth infection. This disorder can cause mild to severe symptoms, even death if it is not treated immediately. The tooth cavity can become large enough to eventually reach the tooth nerve. This allows bacteria to accumulate into the teeth. The infection will start to develop over time until the bacteria reach the nerves.
Our body has its own nervous system consisting of the spinal cord, brain, sensory organs, and all the nerves that connect these organs to the rest of the body. Meanwhile, the dental nerve exits the brain via the trigeminal nerve, which is the largest brain nerve. Therefore, for example, if an infection occurs in the lower wisdom teeth, if not treated immediately, the infection can spread to other organs through the blood vessels. Then, this infection could have reached the brain.
In fact, the bacteria that attack these teeth can spread to the brain causing problems in other areas. When the infection reaches the brain, the sufferer may experience life-threatening problems. Someone who has this disorder requires examination in the hospital until immediate treatment. Although it is relatively rare, the risk is still there if the problem with the teeth is not treated immediately. when germs enter the blood vessels, they can spread to other organs of the body and cause infections such as problems with the respiratory system, brain, and heart. According to research, infections originating from the dental pulp and periodontal, the germs seem to be able to target their spread to all parts of our main body system. for example, it can spread to the sinuses, brain and peripheral nerves, cardiovascular system, lungs and eyes. An infection that enters the brain can be one of the causes of meningitis. If the condition of the teeth has caused inflammation of the brain, the patient's quality of life and daily activities will be disrupted. Disorders of cavities are also often experienced by children. If this is left unchecked, of course it can reduce the child's appetite and cause nutrient absorption that is not optimal so that the child can be malnourished. Poor dental and oral health in children can also affect their brain development.
type of infection
Tooth abscess infection is always considered an emergency. Someone who has swollen gums can be life threatening if they don't get treatment right away. During emergency treatment, the surgeon will open the abscess on the tooth and drain it. This will help relieve pressure and reduce pain associated with the infection. If the tooth is damaged, it may require extraction to dental implants.
Common symptoms that can arise when you have an infection in the brain due to a toothache, namely:
1.Fever;
2.Headache;
3.Chills;
4.Experiencing changes to the visuals;
5.Weakness that occurs on one side of the body;
6.Having seizures;
7.Nausea and/or vomiting;
8.Changed personality;
9.Troubled consciousness
Root canal treatment of the tooth is also required if a large cavity has formed which has spread to the tooth pulp. After the abscess is drained, the root canal is cleaned, shaped, and sealed. Then, the dental crown is placed over the root canal of the tooth being treated. In addition, the doctor will also prescribe antibiotics to help clear up the infection.
